The first edition of Gallery Week Finland will take place from 26 to 31 August 2025. It brings together over 70 galleries from 24 cities and municipalities from Helsinki to Äkäslompolo.
Spread across the country, the first edition of Gallery Week Finland (Galleriaviikko), will take place from 26 to 31 August 2025 and then annually at the end of summer.
This year, 73 galleries from 24 locations are participating in Gallery Week. The event will spread all the way from Äkäslompolo to Helsinki, and from Vaasa to Joensuu.
The programme includes over a hundred art exhibitions, as well as a wide range of events, including openings, workshops, performances, concerts, meet-the-artist sessions and guided tours. It also features a community run and an art picnic, to name a few.
Exhibitions and events at art galleries are open to everyone and are almost always free of charge, also during Gallery Week Finland. The week-long event is a great opportunity to get to know the galleries in your local area, for example by participating in the events they host.
Gallery Week Finland aims to raise awareness of galleries operating around the country and to encourage new visitors to explore them.
Gallery Week Finland also aims to strengthen cooperation between art galleries. Throughout the rest of the year, these organisations are brought together for training sessions and workshops.
Gallery Week Finland is organised by the national artists’ associations
Gallery Week Finland is organised by the Artists’ Association MUU, the Association of Finnish Sculptors, the Association of Finnish Printmakers, the Finnish Painters’ Union and the Association of Photographic Artists.
They share the goal of strengthening the status and impact of visual artists working in Finland, as well as supporting the visual arts scene as a whole.
Gallery Week Finland is launched with support from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
