Gallery Week invites the public to art galleries 21–27 September 2026
The new Galleries in Finland guide brings together around 70 art galleries in 23 locations participating in Gallery Week, offering an overview of the breadth and diversity of Finland’s gallery scene. The guide aims to increase the visibility of galleries, reach new audiences and highlight the role of galleries as presenters of visual art and important contributors to local cultural life.
Bringing the galleries together in one publication provides a comprehensive overview of Finland’s gallery scene and makes it easier to discover exhibitions taking place across the country. The galleries featured in the guide are taking part in the second nationwide Gallery Week, held on 21–27 September, with a programme that includes art exhibitions, opening events, artist meetings and guided tours throughout Finland. The week also aims to help visitors overcome their “gallery allergy” and discover the joy of experiencing art.
Everyone is welcome to visit the galleries and attend their events just as they are. Visitors can experience artworks up close, take in their scale, materials and atmosphere, and form their own interpretations. Curiosity and a willingness to encounter art are reason enough to cross the gallery threshold. A visit can offer inspiration, new ideas or simply a moment to pause amid everyday life.
Art galleries present a diverse range of contemporary visual art, and admission is always free. Exhibitions typically change monthly, offering opportunities to discover both Finnish and international visual artists.
The participating galleries reflect the rich and diverse gallery scene across Finland, including artist-run, association-run and privately operated galleries. Gallery Week reaches different parts of the country, from Kemi to Helsinki and from Vaasa to Joensuu.
Gallery Week is coordinated by the national visual arts organisations Muu ry, the Finnish Sculptors’ Association, the Association of Finnish Printmakers, the Artists’ Association of Finland and the Union of Finnish Photographic Artists.
