Gallery Week offers engaging art experiences and events across Finland
The second edition of the nationwide Gallery Week, taking place from 21–27 September 2026, invites audiences to experience art in 23 locations across Finland. The 72 art galleries participating in the event will present the public with a wide range of exhibitions and events.
Thanks in part to the Museum Card, Finns have increasingly discovered art museums and visual art. Gallery Week aims to make it easy for more people to engage with art – including those who may not be familiar with galleries.
“We hope that information about free admission to galleries and the wide range of current visual art on offer will reach a broad audience,” says Timo Soppela, Executive Director of MUU ry.
Gallery Week is a reminder that experiencing art does not require any special knowledge or lengthy preparation. You can simply come to a gallery out of curiosity – to look, experience and discover something new, alone, with friends or with the whole family.
The galleries invite audiences to explore current exhibitions, meet artists and take part in a variety of events. Here are a few highlights from the Gallery Week programme:
On Sunday 27 September 2026, from 5–6 pm, Anna Kortelainen will share her thoughts on curating at Järvenpään Taidetalo. In Kemi, visitors can take part in an experimental biomodelling workshop on egg ceramics led by Iines Jakolev at Meän Periferi on Tuesday 22 September 2026, from 5–8 pm. In Lahti, Galleria Uusi Kipinä will offer a Finnish Sign Language-guided tour on Saturday 26 September 2026 at 1 pm.

Gallery Week is coordinated by the national visual arts organisations Artists’ Association MUU, the Association of Finnish Sculptors, Finnish Painters Union, the Association of Finnish Printmakers and the Association of Photographic Artists. Gallery Week is supported by the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency (Kuvi).
