Jouni Kesti: Signs of Life - Jouni Kesti Memorial Exhibition

Pikigalleria / Exhibitions
5.9.–3.10.2026

Pikigalleria presents the visual arts of Jouni "Jonne" Kesti (1946-2015), a multi-artist from Oulu. Kesti's career began as a drummer in Tuira as a teenager. He made his debut as a visual artist in 1983 and was a member of the Finnish Painters’ Union and the Society of Finnish Composers. His works can be found in the collections of several art museums. He held solo exhibitions in Rovaniemi, Helsinki, Stockholm and Paris, among others. He received a state artist's pension in 2008. Kesti worked in Pikisaari for over 30 years, working in the visual arts, music and literature.

Now Kesti's works from different eras from the estate's collections are again on display. The works from recent years are colorful acrylic paintings, but drawings and earlier production are also included. All works in the exhibition are for sale.

The artist's 80th birthday will be celebrated at the exhibition opening on Saturday, September 5th, starting at 3 p.m. The program will include the Stalin Organ Family Orchestra, which will perform its improvised music after an eight-year hiatus.

"For an artist, opposition is the best feedback. It produces a buzz and a hiss. Signs of life."
- Jouni Kesti
