Johanna Ilvessalo: Today, someone got wings

Gallery Katariina / Exhibitions
4.–27.9.2026

How can we make visible what we cannot see?

In the works of the exhibition, water, light and reflections create shifting moments in the space, where absence and presence meet. As the viewer moves through the space, it comes alive around them, and for a moment, they become part of the work.

Johanna Ilvessalo is a sculptor and installation artist based in Helsinki. She received her Master of Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 and held her first solo exhibition in 1992. Her works are included in, among others, the collections of Kiasma and EMMA. In 2026, she was awarded a state artist pension.
