Elisabeth Thorsen: Tundra's Fur

Ränni Gallery / Exhibitions
9.–29.9.2026

The exhibition Tundra’s Fur explores the Arctic landscape through materials, movement, sound and the body. Drawing on the fragile cottongrass of the tundra, traditional craft and the traces of human presence in the landscape, Thorsen creates sculptural forms that move between nature, memory and imagined creatures.

Elisabeth Thorsen is an artist and shoemaker based in Vardø in Northern Norway, drawing from her roots in Sámi culture. Her artistic practice is built around shoes, hair, textiles, and sound, which she uses as foundations for sculptures and performances. Materials hold deep significance in her work: they carry personal, cultural, and symbolic layers.
