Galleriaia
A new contemporary art gallery, Galleriaia, opened in Helsinki’s Kallio district on January 29, 2025, bringing exciting and diverse art from both Finnish and international creators to the area. Behind the gallery are four professionals from the cultural and art sectors: Amanda Palo, Yiorgos Slunga, Niklas Hallman, and Timothy Kühn.
Galleriaia: Diversity as the Foundation of Art
The multidisciplinary background of the gallery’s founding team brings experimentation into the space and challenges traditional ways of presenting and experiencing art. Yiorgos Slunga’s experience as an art coordinator, Timothy Kühn’s diverse role as a cultural producer, Amanda Palo’s background in performing arts and literature, and Niklas Hallman’s career as a visual artist and musician create a strong foundation for Galleriaia’s activities and goals.
In addition to exhibitions, the space offers workshops, discussion events, and other programming that enriches the capital’s cultural scene. The founders’ extensive experience across various art forms allows Galleriaia to introduce its audience not only to visual arts, but also to works at the intersections of sound and performance art, literature, and fashion. The goal is to create a space where different art forms meet.
The founders emphasize the importance of art, especially in difficult times. Under the government’s austerity policies, elevating art is more crucial than ever.
